EPS & The Environment

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation is a closed-cell foam plastic that is 98% air. EPS insulation does not contain chlorofluorocarbon (CFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) or hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFCs) blowing agents. EPS contains only air, is safe and easily recyclable.

Product Stewardship

Beaver Plastics recognizes and accepts responsible product stewardship* – we have developed a three-part plan for reducing waste going in to local landfills.

  • JOBSITE READY SIZING. This means offering the contractor custom product sizing that can reduce waste trim and labour on the job site, most often at no extra charge.
  • RECYCLING. Many of our customers have joined us to collect and return clean jobsite insulation waste and scrap product to our plants for recycling. Beaver Plastics’ also recycles 100% of our in-house EPS waste and scrap.
  • REDUCE WASTE – LESS PACKAGING. We offer a reduced or no wrap option when feasible to avoid landfill disposal. Simple strapping of insulation bundles can be an option to full polyethylene film wrap.

*Product Stewardship is where environmental, health, and safety protection centers on the product itself, and everyone throughout the lifespan of the product is called upon to be responsible for reducing ecological impacts. At Beaver Plastics, this includes manufacturing products that do not contain or release harmful substances. Our products are clean, safe, functional, efficient, durable and recyclable.

Our two plants Canada (Alberta and British Columbia), along with our affiliated EPS producers, distributors and agents, manufacture and supply high quality EPS products throughout North America.
