Geo Technical Applications

Beaver Plastics has seen many crude solutions used to eliminate geo-mechanical stresses to concrete structures. The ability of many materials to reduce loads against these structures may be limited to a small range. We’ve developed an innovative solution to answer the industry needs and requirements.
Geofoam – is closed cell expanded polystyrene normally used as a lightweight fill material in larger earth structures, reducing loads imposed on adjacent and underlying soils that are incapable of supporting transferred loads. Geofoam provides ready and inexpensive solutions to many geotechnical and engineering challenges.
G-TEC is manufactured from inert closed cell expanded polystyrene (EPS) that has been elasticized for use in geo-technical applications. The resulting extended range of flexibility can increase design safety factors for retaining walls, foundation walls, buried pipe, integral abutments and other structures from earth pressures, expansive soils, freeze/thaw, surge loads and seismic activity.
Terrafoam EPS and HS – are inert closed cell rigid expanded polystyrene (EPS) products with excellent resistance to freeze/thaw, zero capillarity and low moisture absorption. Terrafoam products do not off gas or leach, are safe to handle and cut, have zero long term loss in R-value and will not decay or degrade in above or below grade applications. Terrafoam EPS is available in Types 1, 2, and 3 and Terrafoam HS is available in 25, 30, 40, 60, 80 and 100 psi compressive resistance ratings.
